Touring Cars and GTS, less than 1300cc up to 1971 – Danish Championship

It may be a bit confusing that sports cars mingle with touring cars. But it is a national requirement that sports cars are represented with the touring class for the Danish Championship.

Despite these cars have not much horse power compared to the cars of today they have much speed. And prestige and good PR was also a motivating factor for the makers of these small cars. And because of that more and more manufacturers became part of motor sport. Today we can therefore offer a large and much varied grid with cars like Fiat, Abarth, Mini Cooper, Ford Anglia, Hillman IMP and NSU 1200. Several of the marquees do not any longer exist. Sunbeam is gone, NSU has been engulfed by VW, Austin was merged with British Leyland and is now in Rover’s drawer after a period with German BMW.

And in spite of the very modest horse power of these car we will see some pretty fast lap times in 2009.
