Touring Cars up to 1965 – Danish Championship
All cars in this class have to be build between 1961 and 1965 and thus pretty even technically. If that also goes for the drivers – many of whom have birth certificates dated in the same period – we will have to see.
In the early 60s the interest for motor sport was enormous and a multitude of brands fought out each others on the tracks. To be homologated as a standard class racer, the car had to be a mass produced family car with seating for four persons. Modifications to the cars were allowed and with tuned engines, refined springs and dampers and broader tires they were soon ready for motor sport. Most of the cars in this class are road cars rebuilt for racing. But not more rebuilt than were allowed for in the happy 60s.
Many will have vivid memories of these standard class cars: Ford Cortina, Volvo PV544, Morris Mini and Alfa Romeo GTV.
