The former MASCOT DTC Champion, Lasse Sørensen, is one of the many talented Danish and foreign race drivers who will participate in the Royal Pro/Am class at Copenhagen Historic Grand Prix on August 3rd and 4th in Copenhagen.
Lasse Sørensen will team up with Jan Struve in the exciting Royal Pro/Am class, in which a professional race driver shares his car with a skilled amateur. They will be driving a Lotus Cortina – the same type of car that His Royal Highness Prince Joachim will be driving in the same race.
Despite his young age of just 22, Lasse Sørensen already has an impressive racing-resumé with loads of victories and championships. Sørensen started his career driving gokarts and in 2012 he switched to Formula Ford. In 2013, he was elected Track sport Talent of the Year and in 2014 Lasse Sørensen won the French F4 Championships. After another two years of driving Formula Cars, Lasse Sørensen got a roof over his head in 2016 when he switched to the Danish MASCOT DTC-series. The results were fast and just one year later, Sørensen won the championship together with Team Flexlease.nu / Strøjer Tegl.
This season, Lasse Sørensen has signed a contract with the Austrian Team DEXWET DF1 Racing with the support from Team Flexlease.nu / Strøjer Tegl, to race a full season in the European NASCAR Championship. The championship is driven by a total of 32 cars on various tracks around Europe and is a counterpart to the American NASCAR series. Former Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve and number of American Nascar stars participate in the series.
As a bonus, it is worth mentioning that Lasse Sørensen is Aston Martin factory driver Marco Sørensen’s brother. In 2016, Marco Sørensen won the Professional Sportscars World Championships in “Danetrain” together with his partner Nicki Thiim.
